About Matthew Banister

• Began as Managing Partner of a General Practice Law Firm with specialized focus in Oil and Gas
acquisitions and transactions, Family Law Litigation, and Criminal Defense representation. Managed
a caseload of over 75 clients both appointed by the criminal indigent defense system, retained
clients, and corporate clients. Additionally, I performed contract duties with the Wharton County
District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney assisting in teaching less experienced
prosecutors regarding the Code of Criminal Procedure, negotiations, and trial strategy tactics.

• Litigated Family Law matters to final trial or hearing for child custody modifications, Guardianship
proceedings, Divorces, and temporary order hearings.

• Represented indigent individuals accused of committing criminal offenses ranging from
misdemeanor possession of marijuana, DWIs, Assault Family Violence, Thefts, Aggravated
Robberies, Manufacture/Delivery of Controlled substances, White Collar crimes and Capital Murder.

• As appointed Attorney Pro Tem for the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office, prosecuted
matters including Felony Possession and Delivery charges for Controlled Substances, Aggravated
Robberies and Murder.

• Additionally engaged in civil litigation over Right of Way and land rights related to a 62 mile pipeline
originating in Shelby County and Guadalupe County.

• Performed duties of General Counsel to several private entities in fields varying from Oil and Gas
downhole production and drilling, Real Estate Development, Entertainment, and Technology.

• Detailed experience assisting Clients in mergers and acquisition due diligence for Oil/Gas lease
assignments and purchases of interest and mergers with oil field service companies.

• Represent Civil Litigation Clients, both individuals and entities, regarding personal injury,
commercial service. Debts, mechanic liens, injunction suits, defamation actions, fraudulent
inducement and various breach of contract suits.

• Extensive experience assisting Clients in mergers and acquisition due diligence for Oil/Gas lease
assignments and purchases of interest and mergers with oil field service companies.
